In the summer of 2018 I decided to enter the NatGeo Travel Photographer of the Year contest and to my amazement i ended up being a finalist. This was an incredible feeling because at the time i was only about a year and a half into my photography obsession. Being self thought and not having any type of artistic talent this was not only an amazing feeling to be in the same category with some amazing photographers from around the world. This photo stemmed from a cross county trip trip I decided to take flying from Newark, NJ to San Francisco and a few days later taking the Amtrak train from San Francisco to New York. This trip was not only something i needed to do to conquer some fears but also it allowed me to capture this amazing photo that has motivated me to pursue my passion for photography.

I got a chance to experience an amazing event. To some it may just be an eclipse but to me it was an experience of a life time. I drive at total of 28 hours in a 48 hour time frame from Pennsylvania to Columbia, SC. It was a last minute trip and i was completely unprepared. I had barely any experience with photography let alone photographing a total solar eclipse. But again it is not about how much you know about something but about the experience of that thing that will stay with you forever. I do not know if i will ever get to see a total solar eclipse again in my lifetime but i know that making that last minute decision which i did not want to make was one of the best things i have ever decided to do. To experience something so amazing was worth all the logistical headaches.
